Reflection of the outskirts
This series transforms a typical Moscow district — Zapadnoye Degunino — into a space of transition between the visible and the elusive, between the documentary landscape and its reflection. The work focuses on the everyday, “non-picturesque” nature of the urban periphery. Standardized architecture and the monotony of forms become not merely a backdrop, but a medium in which boundaries dissolve. Within this “non-picturesque” environment, a special kind of poetics emerges — a sense of shelter within the everyday, a quiet refuge at the edge of systems.
The project explores how our perception of space shifts when the familiar urban form becomes porous, fluid, and reflective. The city, as a living organism, breathes, forgets, and overgrows.
It is important for me to show that the perception of the city itself is as fragile and changeable as natural processes: everything around us exists in a state of constant metamorphosis — between stability and disappearance, between the material and the imagined.
This is a space for reflecting on the possibility of finding refuge within impermanence — of seeing the garden not as a secluded place, but as a living condition of both inner and outer environments, where human, architecture, and nature enter into dialogue.
